Fall LED Lighting Maintenance
With fall on its way, now is a great time for lighting maintenance around your home or business. Programs like ENERGY STAR® recommend annual equipment checkups to help extend the life of your fixtures, prevent future issues and reduce associated costs. Check out these five easy tips:
- Check for burned out LED arrays in fixtures or lamps, and replace them as needed. This is also a great time to upgrade non-LED lamps or fixtures!
- Test outlets, dimmers and electrical connections for faulty circuitry. Replace when needed.
- Clean your fixtures! Dust and dirt buildup can diminish light output (even in a relatively clean environment).
- Lubricate any moving parts. LEDs last a fair amount of time, but it’s important to make sure their housings are properly maintained.
- Check fixture mounts, poles & bullhorns for stability. Tighten or replace where needed.
Remember to take appropriate safety measures when performing any routine maintenance:
- Turn power off before changing out lamps or fixtures to reduce risk of electric shock.
- Use proper tools and safety equipment.
- Follow all safety regulations and guidelines.
Taking small steps like this is crucial for extending the life of your fixtures and keeping your home or business illuminated year round.
